About the Project
not Evil is a search engine designed specifically for the Tor onion network. In a world where mainstream search engines track every click, profile every user, and sell attention to the highest bidder — we chose a different path.
Our search engine is built with pure PHP and HTML. No JavaScript, no third-party dependencies, no CDNs. Every page renders on the server and arrives as simple HTML that any browser can display — including Tor Browser with its strictest security settings.
The project is fully self-hosted on the Tor network. We operate our own crawler that indexes .onion sites, and all data is stored locally on our servers — never in the cloud, never shared with third parties.
